Neiphiu Guolhoulie Rio (born 11 November 1950) is an Indian politician who currently serves as the Chief Minister of Nagaland. A founding leader of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), he is the longest-serving Chief Minister in the history of the state. Over several decades in public life, Rio has played a central role in Nagaland’s political development and governance. Neiphiu Rio was born in Tuophema village in Kohima district of Nagaland. He belongs to the Angami Naga community and comes from a respected local family. His parents were the late Guolhoulie Rio and Kevilhouü Rio.Rio completed his early schooling at Baptist English School in Kohima.
